Bash in Berlin started with a top-class match. However, has WWE made a mistake already? Cody Rhodes successfully defended his WWE Championship against Kevin Owens in the opening match.
The Prize Fighter hasn’t won a World Championship since dropping the Universal title in 2017. Today could have been the perfect moment for Owens to turn his career around. WWE could have turned him heel to bring a new dimension into this feud.
As the match went on, we saw many instances where Kevin Owens had the chance to go for the kill on Cody Rhodes, but he didn’t.
After the match, there could have been a sudden attack from Owens to catch the champ off guard. However, they just showed respect to each other and moved on.

Tonight at Bash in Berlin, Triple H could have pulled the trigger and made Owens turn heel. This would have caught the fans by surprise and would give the feud a new dimension.
If we also have a look at the former Universal Champion’s career, he has done his best work when he was the bad guy. His only stint as the top champion also happened when he was a villain. It looks like WWE is building this story slowly and steadily; however, the creative team probably missed out on a golden opportunity at Bash in Berlin.
Bash in Berlin has gotten off to a great start
After 27 years, WWE came back to Germany for a televised event with Bash in Berlin. The show opened with Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens putting on an edge-of-the-seat match.
Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair finally regained their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship from Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. As of this writing, there are three matches still pending.
CM Punk will face Drew McIntyre in a strap match. Their story gets more personal every single day. This is the second match of their rivalry, with McIntyre winning the first one at SummerSlam last month.
The penultimate match of the night is Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest against Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan. Mysterio turned the world on its head when he betrayed Ripley and left her for Morgan. The terror twins will be out for revenge and secretly hoping there is no Judgment Day Interference.
The main event of Bash in Berlin will see hometown hero Gunther defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Orton. The Viper is looking to win his 15th World title, while Gunther will try and replicate his Intercontinental Championship run.
