Roman Reigns on the WWE Universe’s support when he was diagnosed with leukemia
Back in late 2018, Reigns went on a break from WWE TV after he was diagnosed with leukemia. The WWE Universe was shocked to the core upon hearing the news live on RAW. Reigns later spoke with CBS Sports and opened up about the support he received from fans during the ordeal.
“It was like a huge redeeming quality on our society to me where it was like, ‘No matter what really goes down, we have your back.’ All entertainment and storyline aside, they all got behind me. Everybody put their arms around me and just made me feel like everything was going to be OK. At a point where I was extremely scared and extremely insecure about everything, our fans and the WWE universe were able to kind of settle me down and make me know that everything is going to be alright.” [H/T – CBS Sports]
Reigns made a massive return mere weeks before WrestleMania 35. He soon kicked off a feud with Drew McIntyre, who had put down Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose one after the other. At ‘Mania, Reigns defeated The Scottish Warrior and exacted his revenge.
