WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has reflected Dominik Mysterio’s growth saying that ‘deep down’ he knew his son was going to be ‘bigger’.
Dominik Mysterio remains at the heart of WWE Raw storylines having recently been an instrumental part of the implosion of Judgment Day at SummerSlam.
In a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Rey Mysterio reflected on the progress of his son in WWE, saying:
“I’ve always known, deep down inside my heart that my son was going to be bigger than his father. I didn’t know in what way. But I just knew that he was going to do things that I wasn’t able to do and he was going to take it to the next level.
“That’s what generations are about, taking it to the next level. He’s doing it and he’s surprising all of us, his family, his peers, the fans.”
With Dominik Mysterio starting training in 2018, he would enter the WWE ring as an adult star in March 2019 leading to his first match at SummerSlam in August 2020 against Seth Rollins.
By 2022, Dominik would find himself feuding with and later joining Judgment Day, later being ‘arrested’ after invading his family home during Thanksgiving.
July 2023 would give us “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, with the star becoming NXT North American Champion, an accolade his would repeat in October of that year.
An injury in April 2024 saw Mysterio unable to compete, although he would remain a presence on screen with May seeing the start of Liv Morgan’s attempts to seduce him.
Morgan would get her way at WWE SummerSlam in August 2024 with a new ‘leader’ and ‘ego’ free Judgment Day without Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley coming in its wake.
