Legendary wrestling manager Jim Cornette has joked that he and Rhea Ripley used to be together but they decided to end their relationship.

The WWE veteran was commenting on her getting married to Buddy Matthews.

The former Women’s World Champion is currently sidelined with an injury,

and she’s expected to be out of action for some more time.

A week ago, Mami announced on social media that she and AEW wrestler Buddy Matthews, who competed in WWE as Buddy Murphy, tied the knot by sharing a photo from their wedding.

On the latest edition of the Jim Cornette Drive-Thru, the former manager reviewed the Liv Morgan, Zelina Vega and Dominik Mysterio segment that took place on WWE RAW last week. When he was reminded of Rhea Ripley’s marriage, he sarcastically stated that he and Mami decided to end their relationship and he didn’t blame her for going to Buddy Matthews.

“Well, we didn’t want to say anything, but now that that has gone public, Rhea and I privately decided to end our relationship a few months ago and I don’t blame her for on the rebound, you know, leaping into the arms of Buddy [Matthews],” joked Cornette. [1:23-1:41]

Thunder Rosa on whether The Judgment Day storyline may be affected by Rhea Ripley’s announcement

The Eradicator is portrayed as Dominik Mysterio’s girlfriend on WWE TV. However, both stars are married to different people in real life.

Speaking on Busted Open, AEW star Thunder Rosa commented on whether Rhea Ripley announcing her marriage will have any effect on The Judgment Day storyline.

“We’re not in the ‘super kayfabe’ like we were in the 1980s or ’90s. I feel like some people understand this as a work, and some don’t understand it as a work,” Rosa stated. “Kayfabe, I believe in some aspects, is almost dead unless they have real heat. Everyone handles their personal life differently. Some people love to put everything out [on display]. Others chose not to put everything out. I still think it’s going to work. You can always have a side piece.”

Rhea Ripley’s on-screen partner Dominik Mysterio is currently being pursued by Liv Morgan. It’ll be interesting to see how she reacts to this when she comes back.
