Cody Rhodes suffered an injury on WWE SmackDown this past Friday which could lead to Triple H making some tough decisions.
The American Nightmare faced Solo Sikoa in the main event of the blue brand this week after The Bloodline attacked him after his victory over AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle.
The heel faction once again got involved in the proceedings as interference from Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa led to the match ending in DQ. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens then made the save for Cody.
While the babyfaces had Solo Sikoa cornered,
Jacob Fatu made his WWE debut to take out all three of them single-handedly. The Samoan Werewolf even put Cody Rhodes through the announce table, leading to the latter suffering broken ribs. The American Nightmare revealed at last night’s house show that two of his ribs are fractured.
While Cody Rhodes is a fighter and looks set to continue despite the injury, the scenario provides Triple H and Co. with a unique opportunity to further establish Jacob Fatu as a dominant force. Hunter could lean into the injury angle and force Rhodes to relinquish the Undisputed WWE Championship. The American Nightmare could then return to capture the vacant title, further cementing himself as the top babyface in the company.
Triple H has shown that Cody Rhodes is his guy in WWE
Cody Rhodes has been WWE’s biggest babyface in Triple H’s regime. The American Nightmare ended Roman Reigns’ historic title reign at WrestleMania 40, after which he credited multiple people for his success. Rhodes had special praise reserved for Hunter whom he also called out to celebrate with him.
The duo of Cody and Hunter has worked wonders for the global juggernaut as the company is currently the hottest it has been since the Attitude Era. The former AEW EVP is also the biggest babyface since John Cena which is a huge achievement.
Triple H, meanwhile, has been given full control of WWE’s creative. The 14-time World Champion has not disappointed the fans and TKO board members as the company has been breaking records on a weekly basis.
