3-time WWE champion gets emotional after John Cena announces his retirement

A wave of emotion washed over a WWE Superstar as the weight of John Cena’s retirement announcement settled in.

The star discussed here is former SmackDown, RAW, and NXT Tag Team Champion Montez Ford.

The Street Profits member squared off against The Doctor of Thuganomics for the first time in a dark match following the September 22, 2023,

episode of Friday Night SmackDown. During an interview with Adrian Hernandez in February 2024, Ford admitted that it was a privilege for him to go one-on-one with the 16-time WWE World Champion.

At Money in the Bank, The Franchise Player revealed the details of his Retirement Tour, which will take place from January to December 2025. Cena also declared that WWE WrestleMania 41 will mark the final time he competes on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Speaking to US Magazine at the L.A. premiere of Netflix’s Receiver, the three-time WWE Tag Team Champion shared a heartwarming reaction while reflecting on the impact of the legendary John Cena in the pro wrestling business for the past twenty years.

“I can’t take this! I can’t take this, man. Do you know how many cherished memories he’s [John Cena] given us throughout the years? And now it’s coming to an end? I can’t take this. My heart, my emotions, my mind!” he said.

39-year-old WWE star reacts to John Cena’s retirement news

Former United States Champion Baron Corbin recently opened up about The Cenation Leader saying goodbye to wrestling next year.

John Cena has faced The Lone Wolf three times in WWE and has been unbeaten in all those matches. The 39-year-old even asked the Stamford-based promotion to book one more match between the duo at Bad Blood or Elimination Chamber 2025.

During the same conversation with US Magazine, Baron Corbin called the Hollywood star his mentor and thanked the latter for motivating him whenever he was frustrated.

“We live 10 minutes from each other. I work out at his gym. I would see him [John Cena] on a weekly basis before he was doing all the Hollywood stuff. When I would get frustrated, he became a mentor, in a sense. He would say, ‘Let’s go to dinner. Let’s eat steak and burnt Brussels sprouts, have some wine, and we’ll talk through this and figure it out,”‘ he said.

It will be interesting to see how John Cena fares during his Retirement Tour next year.
